Faye and Jon’s laid back summer wedding at the Ashes Barns

She’s got smiles for miles

I really liked Faye. I warmed to her as soon as we first met and every time after, I’d leave the meetings smiling from ear to ear. She is so warm and kind and smiley – you just can’t help smile right back. But I’m guessing you’ll see that when you look at these wonderful images from her day with Jon. All captured by the keen lens of Steve Bridgwood Photography.

Faye and Jon chose The Ashes for its simple laid back vibe and wanted their special day to reflect that. They were eager for the bouquets and buttonholes to select blooms suited to the summer season. Faye especially wanted a soft colour palette of pastels for her bouquet, with garden roses and summer blooms with a few accent thistles as a nod towards Scottish family heritage. the buttonholes followed suit and included spray roses, wheat ears and thistles and were all wrapped up with twine.

The table decor included lots of Faye’s own bottles and jars and they had a beautiful long floral arrangement full of all the flowers of the day on both the registrar table and top table.

This really is the sweetest wedding, with the most lovely couple. And that ice cream looks pretty good too!

Philippa and Alex’s English Village wedding at Rose Cottage

The bouquet that stole my heart

Honestly? What’s not to love about Philippa’s choice for her bridal bouquet? It had all the elements it should – colour, scent, movement, peonies and a rose call O’hara, finished with Liberty print fabric knots. Perfect.

When Philippa approached me she was so excited about all the different things they would have going on in there wedding. They were busy folding 1000 paper cranes as a couple, they had a fab band lined up, mum was busy making bunting, runners and all manner of soft dressings for the marquee, not to mention growing a host of flowers to create her own tablescapes.

How could I help? Well Philippa had her heart set on what can only be described as the ultimate English summer bouquet. It was to contain peonies, garden roses, sweetpeas and a host of herbs and other seasonal foliages. I was more than happy to oblige this, and enjoyed every second of creating this bouquet.

The rest of the bridal party co-ordinated with a posy for her bridesmaid, a wand for her flower girl, with everyone else sporting buttonholes or corsages finished with Liberty print knots. Honestly, when I first thought about becoming a wedding florist, this was the wedding I thought I’d be creating!

Gemma and Peter’s late spring wedding at The West Mill

Stylish wedding flowers with copper accents

This is only a snippet of the stunning day Gemma and Peter enjoyed when they wed in a late spring ceremony at The West Mill venue.

This is a couple who know what they like, and Gemma came to our first meeting brimming with design and colour ideas. They were keen for the gorgeous masala coloured bridesmaids dresses to be a starting point for the palette, but didn’t want it to look heavy or wintery. So into the floral mix we threw stunning pink garden roses, orangey toned spray roses and the most delicate sweet peas. The groom and his ushers wore a mix of succulent flowers, blushing bride proteas and spray roses, all bound with copper ribbon. Just perfect.

Peter loved succulents so much he was keen to use them in other parts of the wedding too, so we created a whole table plan dedicated to using those beauties!

Gemma was keen for the little ladies in the party to have their own special crowns and made use of Nadia Di Tullio Crowned to create a set that co-ordinated with the fresh blooms used on the day.

Helena and Dale’s summer romance at the Ashes Barns

A sweet summer wedding

Helena and Dale married in August, at the beautiful Ashes Barns, a beautiful rural venue Staffordshire. Helena was keen to stay in keeping with the vibe of the venue and location and chose to have a summery, mixed flower country bouquet. The bouquet was filled with beautiful scented roses and herbs and she also wore a delicate circlet of daisy, babies breathe and lavender in her hair. I’m sure you’ll agree she is the quintessential image of the English country bride, and Dale the most handsome of grooms.

The venue decor was also very in keeping, and I filled Helena’s own collection of jugs and bottles with flowers that matched her bouquet. The cake didn’t fall short of flowers either and had a stunning selection of blooming white O’hara roses and sweet smelling spray roses.

I adore the fact that even at the end of the night, once things had turned a little more casual Helena was still sporting her hair flowers and veil! She’s such a babe!

Justine and Dan’s ice cream coloured fete wedding at Yeldersley Hall

Old school

Well this pair were up for a fun and cheeky kinda wedding day, and I guess that’s because they are a fun and cheeky kinda couple. When I first met Justine and Dan, Justine reminded me of a super cute anime heroine with her fabulous hair, awesome fringe and beautiful big eyes, and the kind of wedding they had suited their character perfectly. They wanted a fun day, that felt like an old school village fete.

Floral couture – for trees?

Dressing a tree at Clumber Park

So you may have read my post about Floral Couture here. And this is another example of what happens when HBA Photography and I work together. I decided it was time to create a couture tree and Ben made it look real sexy! You can’t improve on what nature has provided, but sometimes it’s fun to mess with it just a little! Clumber Park is just the most wonderful of places – pop along and have a wander amongst the tree, you never know what you may find there…

Aaron and Jess’s fine art affair at The West Mill

Golden hour…

Aaron and Jess are the most stunning couple, and these beautiful fine art images captured by Belle and Beau Photography are the stuff of dreams. This is what Golden Hour is all about!

This beautiful pair were married in a mid week wedding at the West Mill and they did not leave one element to chance, as Jess truly curated an affair to remember. This beautiful pair were married in a mid week wedding at the West Mill and they did not leave one element to chance, as Jess truly curated an affair to remember.

They were keen to keep the florals fresh and airy and wanted to make use of copper accents throughout the scheme, from the invitations and table names to the floral archway and the amazing copper leaf silk ribbon by Lancaster and Cornish, that we finished her bouquet with.

Wishing this couple a life time of happiness…

Fern and Pete’s Rural Spring Wedding at Beechenhill Farm

Rain rain go away…

I met with Fern and Pete a whole year before their wedding on a busy Saturday afternoon in my favourite cafe in Ashbourne. They had travelled from out of town to bring friends and family to Ashbourne, and to introduce them to the charming village that is Ilam where they would be tying the knot at Beechenhill Farm the following year.

Sarah and Tom’s rustic winter wedding at The West Mill

A flurry of confetti for this beautiful couple

There it is. My all time fav shot from any wedding. The confetti shot. So magical. Almost like a flutter of snow for the beautiful winter wedding of Sarah and Tom. Perfect capture by Kim at The Gribbons Photography.

Sarah was keen to have texture and winter foliage front and middle of the designs with the warming accents of candles. So we really pared back to flowers and ramped up the textures instead! Just stunning!

Mel and Matt’s festival vibes wedding at Somersal Cottages

A family friendly festival

I had the absolute pleasure of being invited into Mel and Matt’s home a good year before their festival style wedding. Mel and her sister Fliss made me so welcome that I didn’t really want to leave, and I would have been happy to hangout with their lovely families all evening long. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived was a fab image of the family walking through the gates at Glasto (featured in The Times no less!) and I knew these guys were serious about having fun and bringing people together.
