Autumn weddings are my bestest!
When I received the call from Susan, Ellie’s mum, to ask if I was free to flower her daughters wedding, an Autumn wedding, at Yeldersley Hall, I was crossing my fingers and toes that they would choose me as their florist! You see Autumn weddings are just so special. The light is usually really special. The colours are just a sexy, and candles. There’s usually lots of candles. So really, what’s not to love?
Easy on the orange
Although the wedding was in November, and Autumn was very much under way, Ellie was keen to keep the colours over the reds, burgundies and pinks side go the spectrum, rather than full on oranges and rusts. As you may well know, I LOVE red and pink and blue together so this was ticking all my boxes. And I think that excitement was tangible for Ellie and her mum and they were as enthusiastic about the scheme as I was when I presented them with it. So much so they decided to include some additional decor, because they loved the ideas so much!
Born in the USA
Evan (and his family) travelled all the way over from Virginia, USA to marry Ellie in her home county of Derbyshire, and the families couldn’t have chosen a prettier venue, or a more welcoming space than that at Yeldersley Hall. I have provided flowers for this venue many times over the years and I’ve always been impressed with how well Andrew and his wonderful mum – Mrs Bailey – host those that choose Yeldersley as their ‘special’ place. It’s an intimate venue, with such lovely historical features and gardens, I totally understand why it’s booked out year on year!
Modern Classics
After discussing some different design ideas, we decided to decorate the venue with what I would describe as a modern classic style. The registrar table featured a very pretty long and low design of seasonal foliages (look at that mimosa and cotinus!) teamed with some of the most beautiful roses around that the moment – Four Seasons, Black Baccara, Peony Rose and the all time classic Sweet Avalanche. I also cannot resist adding brown lisianths and wild carrot to this kind of scheme – SO PRETTY!!!! We also added stunning decoration to the statement fire place at Yeldersly as well as our signature ‘growing’ windows scapes too. All in all it was a flower scheme of dreams for me, and I’m so grateful to have been part of the day.
Oh Happy Day
I’m sure you’ll agree that these guys really look like a match made in heaven, and I wish them all the best on their future adventures as man and wife!
I just want to give a little word of thanks to Simon at JAKT Photography for these absolutely stunning images. Other fab suppliers on the day included the ever gorge Jenni from Make Up By Jenni, who made everyone look beauts, and Chris The Chef who’s food went down an absolute storm I hear!
