Childhood Sweethearts at Shinningford Farm

A sucker for a love story

Roll up roll up read all about it! This is a love story that went viral, and its all about childhood sweethearts Heidi and Ed.

Holiday Romance

It was headline news in all the papers…

‘I never believed in fate… but clearly we’re destined to be together!’ Couple are stunned to discover they were long lost childhood sweethearts after spotting EACH OTHER in 20-year-old holiday snaps- Daily Mail

‘Newlyweds discover they were childhood sweethearts’ – The New York Post

So the story goes that the couple had originally met when their families holidayed in the same resort over 20 years ago.  They hadn’t seen each other again once the holiday was over. It was only on a chance discovery, when the parents met and unearthed holiday snaps, that they realised that the gorgeous couple had been inseparable on that holiday, and that in fact fate had brought them back together via university 20 years later. Is that not just the cutest thing ever?

20 years later

After rekindling their romance 20 years later – lets face it, they were obviously meant to be – the couple married surrounded by friends and family at the beautiful Haddon Hall in Bakewell, Derbyshire. Heidi was keen to have a summer bouquet of mixed lilacs to purples, with lots of textures and scent, and for her stunning maids to have the same bouquet, in tones of white! Don’t they all look amazing?

Back at the farm

After the nuptials and champagne, the wedding celebrations moved to Shinningford Farm, Carsington near Ashbourne, where the couple and their families hosted a fabulous reception in wonderful Peaktipi tipi tents.

The decor was to be simple understated and green. So David and I jumped in the van 2 days before the wedding and headed down to Kent and harvested as many hop bines as we could fit in a transit van! I recon there were about 50 bines in total, and we used every single one!

Finishing Touches

In addition to spending one full day hanging the hops in the four Kata tents, we returns on the day of the wedding to layer the tables with runners, greenery layers, signage dressing and added the all essential candles and crooks for added evening atmosphere.

I’m sure you agree that this is a really heart warming tale, involving two really lovely people and their happily ever after.

Thanks to Heidi and Ed for letting me share their story through the great images provided by S6 Photography.
