Film set ready in Hopton
This is was one gorgeous wedding. Like something out a Richard Curtis film. The guests were wonderful. Family had travelled from across the globe. The gardens were so beautifully tended for months in advance. I felt truly blessed to be a small part of this wonderful big day for two really sweet and kind people, and their fabulous families.
Outside in
Because the couple had the opportunity to make use of the brides family home right here in rural Derbyshire, they were keen to welcome all the guest into the home and gardens, and bring then outside in to the marque. Kate wanted it to feel summery, garden party-esque, and requested that her bouquet contained a couple of roses grown on the ground by her wonderful mum, and the ever present garden master Spen. It was really a special kind of luxury to be allowed to cut from the grounds, and it really made Kates’ bouquet one of a kind.
Eau de nil
The bridesmaids were a gorgeous bunch of girls, and Kate wanted them to have dresses that they loved, felt comfortable in and were ‘them’ so she let the choose their gowns…the one colour we had fun trying to name was in the blue, green, grey tone – of which I decided, for my style notes, was eau de nil. But regardless of the name – it looked stunning and the flower crowns they all wore topped of that carefree summer vibe perfectly. The littlest ones were also crowned princesses for the day, with foliage only versions which looked so pretty with the fresh white dresses!
The older boys and girls weren’t left out either, super sweet tied buttonholes for the gents, and on trend floral wrist cuffs for the ladies.
Bright and Breezy
We added a couple of super sexy floral pieces to the scheme, the first was the floral arch for the breeze house. This was the area where the ceremony would take place and the couple would exchange their vows. I absolutely LOVED creating this. It smelled amazing, looked beautiful, and despite being such an amazingly warm sunny day, it still looked pretty perfect two days later when we came to take it down!
The second item was the tandem we hired for the couple from Vic at Posh Props in Derbyshire (this is a great place – check them out!) Joey is a keen cyclist and Kate wanted to add a special little something to the decor just for him! Check it out!!!
Cake and Flowers
Is there anything more wonderful than cake and flowers, together, in the same place, all day long??? Hhhhmmmm I can’t think of anything. I think Kate was in agreement too as she commissioned a right bobby dazzlers from baker of dream cakes – Hannah from Bake, Ashbourne. She created a million tiers of nom, and added a floating their of flowers for good measure. Flipping marvellous! The whole Top Marques marquee was filled with wonderful colour and scent from the flowers and cakes, and amazing food by Charlie at Red Olive Catering. The whole thing was just the wedding day of dreams.
Kudos to all involved in making this day everything it was for for such lovely people. Special thanks for Kate and Joey for letting us share a few snippets from their day with you here, and to Becky Ryan Photography for these images full to bursting with joy!
