A family friendly festival
I had the absolute pleasure of being invited into Mel and Matt’s home a good year before their festival style wedding. Mel and her sister Fliss made me so welcome that I didn’t really want to leave, and I would have been happy to hangout with their lovely families all evening long. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived was a fab image of the family walking through the gates at Glasto (featured in The Times no less!) and I knew these guys were serious about having fun and bringing people together.
Cake in common
All good parties need cake, and cheese towers, and pork pies! And boy did they treat their guest to a bit of that. I know I’m gonna get on well with someone when they get as excited as I do about a pork pie that can feed 100! They commissioned a fab naked cake from out local caking expert Hannah from Bake Ashbourne, and the pork pies was from ole faithful M&S!
Fill ya boots!
As per the whole day, Mel was pretty chilled about the way the flowers should look, but she did know that she wanted wellies with flowers on every guest table, another nod to the festival vibe they were creating. Mel also loved the idea of a lovely free form bouquet to hold, full of blousy summer blooms, but again left it to me to come up with the design.
Rain (doesn’t) spoil play
As we know, some of the best ever weddings happen when it rains (!) and Mel and Matt were mostly fortunate with the weather but the clouds did burst, in true Glasto style, while they said their vows under our beautiful birch arch. I think if you look at their pictures, its easy to see it didn’t damped any sprints, and I’d hazard a guess the party went on well into the night!
