To shoot or not to shoot!
Sometimes I participate in a photo shoot. These shoots can serve all sorts of purposes. A chance to try out new techniques, or maybe to work somewhere new, perhaps to work with people you admire, or simply because you need some really amazing pictures.
Well this shoot on an utterly miserable day in March fell into the latter category. I needed some pictures for various projects and it seemed to make sense that rather than have some rather ‘dry’ white backdrop product photography, I could make use of Ben’s awesome lighting and photography skills and have a mini styled shoot, out in Alstonfield, Derbyshire.
Shout out to my ex’s
I called on the help of two of my stunning ex-brides to help bring some of the designs to life. First of all, Nat. She is a total babe and could easily be my muse for all things edgy, cool and rock n roll. She even arrived on the day in a stripy tee – she’s defo an honorary part of the team!
Then there is Laurissa. She’s a long term part of my life – we’ve been close for more years than I actually want to type here. I’d selected a gorgeous new variety of garden rose called Beatrice to use as part of the shoot. Lari’s daughter is called Beatrice so who else could I ask to hold that stunning bouquet? And to be honest I know she puts her stunning Halfpenny London gown on most weeks, so I knew she wouldn’t mind having another reason to wear it ‘officially’!
Knowing me knowing you
You’ll notice that this was also they day Ben shot our ‘about’ pics. I hate having my picture taken, but I do know one of the first things I do when I land on a site is check the ‘about’ page, and I’m always super sad when there is no headshot – I like to know who I’m dealing with!
All in all the day was really very productive. I had the collection of images I needed and got to hang out with some of my fave people for a whole day. A nice days work.
