Sarah and Tom’s rustic winter wedding at The West Mill

A flurry of confetti for this beautiful couple

There it is. My all time fav shot from any wedding. The confetti shot. So magical. Almost like a flutter of snow for the beautiful winter wedding of Sarah and Tom. Perfect capture by Kim at The Gribbons Photography.

Sarah was keen to have texture and winter foliage front and middle of the designs with the warming accents of candles. So we really pared back to flowers and ramped up the textures instead! Just stunning!

Mel and Matt’s festival vibes wedding at Somersal Cottages

A family friendly festival

I had the absolute pleasure of being invited into Mel and Matt’s home a good year before their festival style wedding. Mel and her sister Fliss made me so welcome that I didn’t really want to leave, and I would have been happy to hangout with their lovely families all evening long. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived was a fab image of the family walking through the gates at Glasto (featured in The Times no less!) and I knew these guys were serious about having fun and bringing people together.

Shoot day in Derbyshire, flowers & cakes & moons oh my!

To shoot or not to shoot!

Sometimes I participate in a photo shoot. These shoots can serve all sorts of purposes. A chance to try out new techniques, or maybe to work somewhere new, perhaps to work with people you admire, or simply because you need some really amazing pictures.

Well this shoot on an utterly miserable day in March fell into the latter category. I needed some pictures for various projects and it seemed to make sense that rather than have some rather ‘dry’ white backdrop product photography, I could make use of Ben’s awesome lighting and photography skills and have a mini styled shoot, out in Alstonfield, Derbyshire.

Flower Crowns for Friends

Creating Crowns

Collaborations are alway better than going it alone when it comes to creative projects I think? And this is where my floral accessories business began. I was commissioned by my friends at Mackney Photography to create a range of pieces suitable to use within their gorgeous styled shoots. These crowns proved so popular that I began to design more and more styles and now regularly send pieces all over the UK, Europe and even to Australia. I love this part of my business as it really is quite therapeutic working on these pieces. For some reason I often work on these early in the morning and I love sitting quietly in the workshop bringing the pieces to life. (It’s such a contrast from the hustle and bustle of working on a full wedding order)

Gina and Matt’s stunning summer wedding at Shottle Hall

A champagne supernova…

Gina and Matt wed at Shottle Hall, and were blessed with just stunning weather allowing them to make the most of the outdoor ceremony area. Gina was keen to make the wedding a day to remember for everyone, and left no detail untouched. She created an old school glamour feel by using a subtle champagne gold colour palette which was reflected in all her accessories and even added fine champagne flecks in her bouquet.

The tables were adorned with wonderful golden sequin linens and all the glassware had the Midas touch too! We created mid height rose and hydrangea vases to carry on the glamour, and I’m sure you’ll agree they really looked the business.

Her stunning maids wore fabulous sequinned gowns and her flower girls wore delicate wax flower crowns in their hair. They really looked just darling.

This is surely what classical wedding dreams are made of?

Tipi-luxe shoot, The Heath House

A tipi feast for the eyes!

Earlier this year I was fortunate to be given almost ‘carte blanche’ to create a styling and floral theme for the Peaktipis spring open weekend, hosted at The Heath House in Staffordshire. Working with the dedicated and incredibly hard working team at Peaktipis we pulled together a super luxe look that suited the elegance of the country house setting, and challenged the theory that tipis are for rustic weddings only.

I was keen to create a fully opulent look, and the starting point was ‘that’ amazing dress I selected with the help of Lorraine from Lori G Bridal in Derbyshire. The voluminous tulle and lace gown had shades of pinks and blues within the skirt and I used this as the colour direction for the rest of the styling. I pulled together the best and most beautiful blooms available to create a to die for bouquet and finished the bridal styling with a unique floral hair piece and necklace. The long tables were brimming with foliage runners, guilded candle sticks and compotes, with golden grapes and apples to give it that little bit extra. The hand painted stationary by Yellowstone Art Boutique and cakes and treats by Bake Ashbourne fitted perfectly with the scheme.

As with all shoots, you’re in the hands of the photographer, and I’m sure you’ll agree that Ben from HBA Photography has created an awesome set of images for us all to enjoy!

And if you want the hairs on your arms to stand on end watch this beautiful film by Jason Lynch. And yes, the models are a real couple – can’t you tell?

Excuse me while I indulge in blue a while…

It’s like rain, on your wedding day…

I just wanted to take this opportunity to share images of a very special, rainy summers day wedding here in Derbyshire.

If you’ve read the “about” page you may see some familiar faces? These pictures are from OUR wedding day and we wanted to take this chance to thank everyone who was involved in making this day so special.

Kate and Rob’s colour pop wedding at The West Mill, Derbyshire

Colourful and cosy in Darley Abbey

So here is a beauty of a wedding at The West Mill – that was featured a few months ago in Perfect Wedding magazine for its fab details and use of colour – just perfect for a late winter wedding.

This lovely couple contacted me late last year to provide the most lovely cheery florals for their January wedding  in the very picturesque Darley Abbey area of Derbyshire.

You will have probably seen on earlier posts that The West Mill is a wonderful venue full of quirky details and Kate and Rob really wanted to play this up! With the use of their lovely collected Golden Syrup tins, used as table centres and vintage bottles with colour pop blooms. The couple created a super cute light bulb installation to which I added in more flowers from their scheme.

Kate and her maids wore really pretty dresses, that were all high street finds, but boy did they ‘rock the look’, along with Rob sporting the very best in tweed and bow tie combos they really were a great looking bridal party.

Jane and Tommy’s Gold and Green Buxton Bandstand Wedding

All about the details

I met Jane and Tommy at the Save the Date wedding event in Derby when they were in the initial planning stages of their Buxton based wedding, and I was thrilled when Jane confirmed I’d be their florist for the day! Jane was bursting with ideas and was keen to show me all her collections of curiosities that she wanted to incorporate into their big day.

Prohibited Love a styled shoot at The West Mill

A collaborative shoot at The West Mill

Back in February 2016 some of my favourite wedding pros added their time and expertise to create this stunning selection of inspiration images at The West Mill, in Derbyshire. The Mill is a venue unlike any other, and we were keen to style this venue in a way that really showed off its style and atmosphere, in a shoot a that was just a little bit more Rock ‘n’ Roll. It was a full day shoot, and boy were we tired when we blew out the final candle but we were also thrilled with the outcome.
