Freedom of choice
Christy and Marc married at Prestwold Hall and they were an awesome couple to work with on their wedding designs. Not only were they interesting, educated and a great double act when we met for coffee, but they were also kind and trusting enough to let me work MY way on their brief. They came to me as I had created designs for one of their bridesmaids weddings the previous year , you can see that wedding here, and loved the idea of something a little quirky and colourful that would suit the very elegant venue. They knew they wanted sunflowers, and they knew that blue would be an accent colour, but the rest was up to me!
A riot for the senses
So with as much of an open mind as they had, I saved my final flower choices to a few days before their wedding. I wanted to use as much seasonal product as possible, making the most of colour and scent to give the full sensory experience, so it made sense to see what the auction could yield. So in addition to the sunflowers, we worked a range of yellow, cream and white tones through hydrangea, stocks, a selection of different roses, freesias and for fun craspedia! But I love design with textures, so we added lots of local lavenders, alchamilla, scabious, myrtle, mollucella, mint and eremerus. And I have to say I loved every second of it!
Elegant and fun
After the outside ceremony and drinks reception, the twin urns of blooms were moved into the hall ready to decorate the wedding breakfast, along with gorgeous compote designs that were just the perfect mix of elegant and fun for the intimate tables at dinner. We finished the tables with lots of mismatched votives in coppers and golds to complement the decor of the room. From what I hear everyone had an amazing day and Christy and Marc had the dream day they’d planned… and apparently my buttonhole presentation boxes made a second appearance at the end of the night for squirrelling away the buffet for the after party – recycle recycle recycle!
I was thrilled to hear the table designs were gifted to guests at the end of the night, but Marc let me know they also took one to their favourite coffee shop in Nottingham the following day so lots more people could enjoy it – how cool is that?
All these wonderful memories were captured by the lovelies that are Pixies In The Cellar thanks so much for letting me share them!
